'Joanna Pousette-Dart: Shaping Light' at Dora Maar Cultural Center, Ménerbes, France
23 June 2026
From 25 June – 27 September, 2026 the Dora Maar Cultural Center at the historic Hôtel de Tingry presents a solo exhibition of work by Joanna Pousette-Dart.
Titled Shaping Light, the show features a selection of new paintings created for the exhibition, as well as works on paper responding to the light and color in the legendary space. This also marks Pousette-Dart’s first exhibition in France.
The Maison Dora Maar is located in an 18th-century mansion once owned by General Baron Robert (1772-1831), who distinguished himself during Napoleon’s campaigns in Spain. In 1944, it was acquired by surrealist artist and photographer Dora Maar, Picasso’s partner and muse from the late 1930s to the early 1940s. Following her death in 1997, the American patron of the arts, Nancy Brown Negley, bought and renovated the house to create a residence for writers, artists and scholars.
Joanna Pousette-Dart: Shaping Light is curated by Frauke V. Josenhans, Deputy Director and Chief Curator, Dora Maar Cultural Center. The exhibition is organized by the Dora Maar Cultural Center with additional support provided by Lisson.
