On Sunday, 17 May, Sean Scully and Tony Cragg will be in conversation about material, form, and the evolving language of abstraction at TEFAF New York 2026. This panel, developed in collaboration with Apollo Magazine, brings together two internationally renowned artists for a conversation on their artistic practices and ongoing dialogue. The discussion offers a unique opportunity to explore how these two distinct creative voices resonate and intersect within contemporary art.
Working across sculpture and painting, Cragg and Scully have each developed a singular visual language grounded in material inquiry, formal investigation, and an engagement with abstraction. By bringing these two voices into direct dialogue, the panel highlights a shared commitment to artistic exploration that transcends medium – rooted in materiality, process, and an enduring curiosity about the possibilities of form, space, and abstraction.
Lisson Gallery returns to TEFAF New York with a dual-artist presentation that brings together two of the most influential figures in contemporary art. Spanning sculpture and painting, the presentation foregrounds new and recent works that explore the expressive potential of material, structure, and abstraction, while reflecting each artist’s decades-long commitment to rethinking the language of form.
TEFAF Talks are interactive panel discussions exploring today’s most fascinating topics in the worlds of art, antiques, and design. This talk is presented in partnership with Apollo Magazine and moderated by Ed Behrens, Editor at Apollo.
